Sinotruk HOWO stands as a prominent name in the domestic truck industry. Launched in 2005, it remains widely utilized even after 15 years of operation, despite the introduction of newer models like the HOWO A7, HOWO T7H, HOWO T5G, and HOWO light trucks.
At the heart of this truck lies the Weichai WP10H400E62 engine. This inline six-cylinder turbo diesel engine, with a 9.5-liter displacement, delivers a maximum power output of 294 kW (400 horsepower) and a peak torque of 1900 Nm. The torque peaks between 1200 and 1300 rpm, while the rated speed reaches 1900 rpm. It employs high-efficiency SCR after-treatment technology instead of the more common EGR systems, using a combination of DOC, DPF, and SCR for exhaust treatment.
Supporting this engine is the Sinotruk HW19712 gearbox, a 12-speed transmission featuring a direct top gear with a 1:1 ratio. Its main section uses a straight double-shaft structure, while the auxiliary section relies on a planetary system to handle a maximum input torque of 1900 Nm. The integrated HW50 direct-connected power take-off enables the dump truck’s lifting functionality.
The front axle, an HR9 model, includes a multi-leaf spring suspension with nine steel plates and is equipped with disc brakes protected by a cover to shield the braking components from splash damage.
The rear axle features a SINOTRUK AC16 wheel-side reduction design with a 4.77 speed ratio and automatic adjustment arms. Traditional drum brakes enhance braking power, while a lateral stabilizer bar improves stability on challenging roads.
On the left side of the frame, a 300-liter aluminum alloy fuel tank sits next to a urea tank, with both positioned for easy refueling and urea replenishment. The frame’s side rail accommodates the tanks seamlessly, ensuring ample clearance.
Complying with National Six emission standards, this HOWO dump truck incorporates a more sophisticated exhaust treatment system compared to earlier models, further reducing its environmental impact.
